Android is a software cluster comprising not only operating system but also middleware & key applications. Android Inc. was founded in by Andy Rubin, Rich miner, Nick sears and Chris White Palo Alto of California, U.S. in the year 2003. Later Android Inc. was acquired by Google in the year 2005. It is most commonly pre-installed on a huge variety of smartphones and tablets from a host of manufacturers offering users to access Google’s own services like Search, Gmail, YouTube, Maps, and many more.
You can easily look for information on the internet, watch videos, search for directions and write messages or emails on your phone, just as you would do on your computer or Laptop.
Android comes with an Android market place which is an online software store, which was developed by Google itself. It allows Android users to select, and download applications developed by various third party developers and use them. There are nearly or more than 2.0 lack games, applications and widgets available on the market for users.
Most of the Android applications are written in Java programming, a relatively easy to learn, friendly language for new developers. The source model of Android is available as open source for developers to develop applications which can be further approached for selling in android market.
Android relies on Linux version 2.6 for main system services such as memory management, network stack, security, process management, and driver model. For software development, Android delivers Android SDK (Software development kit).
